2nd Ashbourne Scouts Duke Of Edinburgh Programe
Are you thinking of doing your Duke of Edinburgh Award? If so, did you know that you can achieve this prestigious award through Scouts?
As a member of The Scout Association you can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award alongside your Scouting Awards. This is done through being a member of an Explorer Scout Unit or the Scout Network. The Chief Scout’s Platinum Award, the Chief Scout’s Diamond Award and the King’s Scout Award have similar requirements to the D of E Bronze, Silver and Gold awards (respectively).
What Is DofE?
There are three levels of DofE programme; Bronze, Silver and Gold. To achieve your Award, you must set goals and work towards them in the following sections; Volunteering, Skills, Physical, Expedition and in addition for Gold level only, Residential.
When Can I Start?
For all DofE Awards you must be an Explorer Scout or Scout Network member and then meet the minimum age requirements.
Bronze – for those aged 14+ years*
Silver – for those aged 15+ years*
Gold – for those aged 16+ years
* Schools and other DofE providers can offer DofE activities from year 9 or 13 but, at Scouts, DofE is a part of our Explorer programme so members must be 13.5 to start working on their awards. All activities must be completed by a young person's 25th birthday.
What Do I Need To Do?
There are different activites and goal which you will set with your DofE leader. This can include Scouting Activites, as well as your Hobbies and Volunteering in your community.
As well as DofE being the world's leading achievement for Young People, participating in the DofE Award contributes towards your Exploer Scout Top Awards. and goes towards reaching your King's Scout Awards.
